The 2015 Pantone color of the year was released last week. This years color is Marsala. Don't you just love that name? I do. It says to me things like warmth, opulence mixed with kindness (a strange combo, I know) and spice. Pantone describes it as naturally robust like an earthy wine. It's certainly cathartic in it's soft tone.
I'm not sure how it fits into my color palettes though. I have to be limited in what I give as options because choosing color for your art prints can become overwhelming if you have too many options. I don't currently have a marsala option. My closest is cranberry or possibly rose? This new pantone color seems to be a merger between the two. I feel like if I add one I need to delete something else to keep my palette options simple.
I rarely get asked for Dirt or Spring. Maybe one of those gets retired? What do you think?
Do you like the pantone color of the year enough for me to modify my color palettes?
